Long Grove is a small, mostly residential city of about 840 people just north of Eldridge — settled in 1838 by the Brownlie brothers, platted in the 1890s, and incorporated in 1911. It shares US-61 exit 129 with Scott County Park, whose 1,280 acres, Glynns Creek Golf Course, and Walnut Grove Pioneer Village sit just up 290th Street. Alan Shepard Elementary on Grove Street is a North Scott school, the volunteer fire station and the Civic League community center anchor 1st Street, and the Strawberry Festival every June is the town's big day.
There is not much commercial property here, and that is by design. The business footprint is roughly one block of 1st Street — city hall, the post office, the tap, the community center — plus the school, two churches, the golf clubhouse, and the farms and contractors on rural addresses around town. Nearly every other parcel is a home: 97 percent of Long Grove's housing is single-family detached with a median build year around 1978, and the recent growth has been on the edges — Winfield Estates' two-to-five-acre lots with outbuildings inside city limits, and the acreage subdivisions north toward the park.
That makes Long Grove primarily a windows, house-washing, and deck town for us, with janitorial for the handful of buildings that need it. And because our office is at 716 E Price St in Eldridge — the next town down the road — scheduling here is as easy as it gets.
